Case Study: Greencell Solar

Client: Greencell Solar
Location: Hockliffe, Leighton Buzzard

Project Overview

A-Lift Crane Hire was tasked with lifting 18-tonne generators from low loaders onto concrete pads at Greencell Solar in Hockliffe, Leighton Buzzard. The project involved working across five rural locations, each presenting unique challenges due to soft ground conditions and the generators’ unconventional lifting points.

Solution

To address the site conditions, temporary road matting was installed at all five locations, ensuring stability for crane operations. A Tadano ATF70 crane was utilised for its strength and versatility, paired with a 4-metre lifting beam. This specialised setup allowed the loads to be lifted safely without causing damage to the generators, as the lifting points were positioned at the bottom of the units.

Outcome

The lifts were completed efficiently and safely across all five locations, with the generators successfully placed onto their concrete pads. A-Lift’s careful planning and tailored approach ensured the project was delivered to a high standard, overcoming the challenges of the rural site.

Case Study: Jet2 Aviation Engineering

Client: Jet2 Aviation

Scope of Work: Lifting aircraft engine thrust reverser doors onto the aircraft following repair

Project Overview

A-Lift were contacted by Jet2 Engineering to aid in the replacement of a faulty component on an Airbus A320. With significant limitations with working airside at a busy international airport, planning was of the upmost importance.

Planning

Working with their engineering and logistics team, we decided that due to the value of the items being lift; possible reach while working on the apron; and restrictions on the set up space airside, our Tadano 70T was best placed to meet all the requirements for them.

Solution

Under a CPA Standard Hire, we supplied the crane, operator and a supervisor whilst working alongside their maintenance team and their specialist lifting frames to carry out the safe replacement of the components within their required timescale.   

This being a highly visible job for passing aircraft and other engineering teams at the airport, safety and compliance with all requirements were of the upmost importance, and again our team showed their professionalism when adapting to changes on site when asked to position the crane in different locations.  The job was completed without issue and Jet2 were extremely happy with the service provided by our team on site.
