Mobile crane hire is when you pay a crane hire company to effectively rent or hire cranes and associated lifting equipment to carry out a lift, rather than purchasing a crane outright to complete your required lifts.  Mobile cranes are wheel based and travel on the road to your required site, unlike tower cranes for instance, which are delivered to site on separate transport and are set up in a fixed position.  

A-Lift Crane Hire has a fleet of modern mobile cranes which can be hired with an operator as part of a standard CPA Crane Hire, or as a full CPA Contract Lift with additional personnel.  

We can arrange the hire of any size mobile crane with operator to complete and manage all of your lifting requirements.

Our depot is based in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire and we primarily supply cranes within a 60-mile radius of Wellingborough, but we do have personnel based in other areas of the country and so are able to provide Contract Lift crane hire much further afield.   So it is always worth calling us and we let you know if we are able to assist you with crane hire in your required area.   Please be assured that if we can service the area you need to carry out a crane lift in, we will always provide you with an initial free site survey to determine your crane hire needs.

It isn’t easy to put a price on crane hire because it depends on several key factors, such as the type of crane you need, how long you will need it, and any additional equipment or personnel that may be required depending on the nature of the lift. We offer an initial free site survey to assess the job and provide you with a quotation.

A standard CPA crane hire will always include the rate for the crane, including the crane operator, and a CPA Contract Lift will always include the rate for the crane, including the crane operator and a second person acting as slinger-signaller and lift supervisor. If a third or fourth person is required on-site, there will be an additional charge for this extra personnel.

CPA Contract Lift rates also include the supply of Lift Plan documentation prepared by a Crane Appointed Person and insurances for the lift.

The larger the crane, the more it will cost you to hire. Similarly, hiring a crane for longer periods will be more expensive than hiring one for half a day or a single day, or it will be more expensive if you need the crane during a weekend or late at night, for instance.

The steep increase in fuel costs and the forced change to white diesel from red diesel by the government in April 2022 has meant that crane hire rates have increased significantly in recent months. This is because cranes can generally only do a limited number of miles per gallon. The larger the crane, the more fuel it will use as it travels.

Insurance requirements depend on the type of crane hire that you require. Customers will require their own insurance if they are booking a CPA crane hire – this will cover any potential loss or damage during the period of crane hire and hired-in-plant insurance to cover the crane on site. We can offer this hired-in-plant cover for a CPA crane hire if the customer does not have it for an additional premium on the hire price.

With CPA contract lifts, the crane company will provide the insurance to cover the lift. A-Lift Crane Hire will insure the lifting equipment, the load, the public and other personnel involved.
