Lifting Equipment

Our wide range of lifting equipment and cranes means we have the flexibility to meet all your lifting requirements.  We can supply all the necessary lifting tackle for a job, including slings, shackles, modular lifting beams, spreader beams, brick forks and any ground mats or power pads that may be required. 

We will also happily arrange haulage or transport on your behalf, where this is required as part of the lift operation, for example when carrying out machinery movement.

In addition to all our regular lifting tackle and beams, we have several other items of lifting equipment available for hire, including a fall arrest tripod access system; man baskets and man cages; boat skips; concrete skips and a genie lift.   Further details and images are shown below.

Furthermore, within our crane depot, we have 40ft storage containers for rental, as well as yard storage space also available to rent.

Absolutely. Cranes are heavy and potentially dangerous plants, so they must be operated and managed with great care. All of our crane personnel have to legally be qualified to perform their roles, and all of our personnel are qualified and trained for the roles performed for us. The majority of our personnel are CPCS qualified or in some cases, NPORS qualified, with NVQs completed in their particular specialisms after completing their initial qualification, be it Crane Operator; Crane Supervisor; Appointed Person or Slinger-Signaller.

This gives you the peace of mind that your goods are in the safest hands possible and reduces the risk of accidents and injuries on-site.

So, in summary, whether you opt for a CPA hire or contract lift, we always provide a suitable crane that is maintained, tested and certified in line with legislative requirements and a competent trained crane operator and the case of a contract lift, a competent trained slinger-signaller/lift supervisor with the lift planned and lift plan written by a qualified Appointed Person.

As members of the Construction Plant Hire Association (CPA), we can assure you that every lift is carried out according to LOLER and BS7121 standards, ensuring maximum safety and efficiency at all times.

We generally concentrate on supplying cranes and lifting equipment within a 60-mile radius of our Wellingborough depot, but with personnel based in different areas of the country we are able to supply Contract Lift crane hire services much further afield.   As a result, it is always worth giving us a call to discuss your lifting requirements and we will let you know if we are able to assist.  If we can service the area you require a Contract Lift in, we will always provide you with an initial free site survey to determine your crane hire needs.

Not all crane hire companies have their own fleet of cranes or lifting equipment, despite the appearance of their advertising, which can lead to problems if they struggle to source a crane for you on the day of your lift.  We would therefore always recommend using a well established and experienced crane hire company, such as A-Lift Crane Hire, with their own fleet of cranes, who will prioritise safety on site and provide the best service they can for you.   We will occasionally need to cross hire cranes in from fellow crane hire companies to supplement our fleet or where larger cranes are required as part of a managed Contract Lift but you can rest assured that we have good working relationships in place with these companies and have carried out the necessary checks on your behalf regarding their accreditations.

If you are not trained in assessing what type and size of crane you require, we can take care of everything for you.  We will visit the location where the lift is required and carry out a crane survey to determine what crane will be suitable and what other equipment may be needed to complete the crane lift.  We will then draw up all the necessary documents and lift plan drawings for the job.  This service is all part of a CPA Contract Lift.

CPA standard hire is for individuals who know what size crane they require and can provide the Lift Plan drawings and method statement, and risk assessments for the job.  If this is the case, you may hire the crane and crane operator from us and plan and manage the lift operation yourself.   We never hire out cranes without one of our operators.  

In the majority of cases, a CPA Contract Lift is required by our customers.  To determine what type and size of crane you will need, we consider several factors, including the weight of the load to be lifted; the distance between where the crane will be set up and the place the load will be lifted to; any obstructions in the location which might affect access to the site or the lift area plus the ground conditions in the required location.
